French Internet-music magazine ResMusica has published a very positive review of the Oehms CD with the Second Symphony by Jean Sibelius as well as smaller works by Edward Grieg.
According to the review, Kitajenko’s interpretation of the symphony confirms, “if it was necessary then, his mastery treatment of structures and his ability to work out the short and penetrating motives.” The reviewer also admires the homogeneity of the string players, the marvellous presence of the wood instruments, the incredible coherence and flamboyance of the brass instruments as well as the broad and ample tempi. He puts the recording on the same level as those of Bernstein, Davis and Karajan.
