Felix Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony, the fourth, his Violin Concerto op. 64 and Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien have in common a vibrant, bright music with lots of colors and plenty of elegance. Dmitrij Kitajenko is scheduled to conduct the three works in a concert with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra on October 20 at the opera of Doha. Arabella Steinbacher is the soloist.
Born in 1981 into a family of musicians, Arabella Steinbacher plays the violin since the age of three and studied with Ana Chumachenco at the Munich Academy of Music since the age of nine, having been her youngest pupil ever. A source of musical inspiration and guidance of hers is Israeli violinist Ivry Gitlis, and she received a considerable input from Dorothy DeLay as well.
